We are pleased to announce that the First Annual SDAC Student Symposium will be held at the Center on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 9 am to 4 pm. This event is open to the general public and admission is free. The Symposium focuses on ‘Archaeologists of Tomorrow’-highlighting current research and projects from graduate and undergraduate students for all areas of the New World and Old World. The symposium provides a venue for presenting research in spoken, poster and video sessions.
The symposium offers an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate student researches to present the results of their work on any of a broad range of topics relating to archaeology. We look forward to receiving proposals for presentations, posters, or short films as individual proposals. While the area and topic are open, we encourage topics that highlight the growth and depth of Southern California and adjacent regions. Examples of possible topics include, but are not limited to, topics in archaeological scientific approaches, theoretical themes that crosscut geographical boundaries and sets of paper or posters that focus on a particular site, region, or culture. Presenters will be eligible to apply for a $300.00 grant that can be used for future participation in a conference of their choosing.
