Special Event Volunteer

Reporting to the Director of Development, Special Event Volunteers support event activities at the Center. There are several opportunities for volunteering in connection with Special Events: pre-event, event and post-event activities.

Special Event Volunteer - Non-specific Events
The Center seeks a volunteer to assist the Development Director with ongoing support for Special Event tasks throughout the year on an "as-needed" basis. Flexible hours.

Duties:
• Assist with tasks leading up to, during event and post event timeline
• Provide office support, packaging of items for events and support for closing of event

Knowledge and Skill Required:
• Communication skills essential
Reliability, enthusiastic personality, honesty, and friendliness are of importance
• Initiative, common sense, creative flair

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products helpful

Physical Effort:
The position involves minimal physical exertion in office and event settings.

Special Event Volunteer - Excellence in Archaeology
The Center seeks a volunteer to assist the Development Director and fundraising committee in preparing for the Annual Excellence in Archaeology Awards in October. The volunteer position would provide valuable, real-world experience in non-profit fundraising, marketing and strategic planning.

Duties:
• Committee Involvement for Excellence in Archaeology Awards – Meet once weekly on Thursdays at the Center: 9:00 am – 11:00 am during lead up to Event.
• Solicitation of Auction Items and In-kind Donation for the event under the supervision of the Development Director and Committee
• Packaging of Auction Donations
• Donor correspondence packaging
• Assist with set-up for event
• Assist with event tracking
• Assist with event
• Provide office support such as filing, copying, and preparing event give-aways.

Knowledge and Skill Required:
• Excellent communication skills, honesty and reliability essential
• Effective project management skills essential
• Ability to multi-task essential
• Initiative, drive, common sense, creative flair and flexibility essential
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Volunteer will gain quality experience in the non-profit sector, and benefit from working with an experienced Development Director and creative staff in a casual, but professional organization. Flexible hours, approximately 5-8 hours per week.
