Every now and then we take in a collection made up of artifacts that for various reasons, can leave us scratching our heads.  This particular collection, also known as “Albert Greytak Collection” came to us via The San Dieguito Heritage Museum located at 450 Quail Gardens Drive in Encinitas, CA. We do know that the collection is comprised of several collections from San Diego County and elsewhere.  The ‘elsewhere’ still eludes us.  On this page you will find several photographs of some of the more interesting artifacts.  We invite to drop by the Center and take a look at the collection.

What are these round objects?

These are smaller version of the ‘Donut Stones’ found on San Clemente and other areas.  It has been suggested they are net weights, loom weights, game pieces and perhaps digging stick weights.  Both their provenance and provenience alludes us-for the moment.

Similarly, these ‘torpedo’ shaped items come from the same collection.  Unfortunately, they are also a mystery.  We will update you with information on them as it comes in.
