#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. This year, the Center participated in this initiative to raise important funds to upgrade the children’s area. Some of the new exhibits include an exciting underwater excavation, where the remains of a shipwreck will teach artifact classification and analysis, and an interactive stratigraphy exhibit to show how archaeological sites can change and develop over time.
“A primary objective of our youth educational programs is to provide a hands-on approach to the scientific method and to show how archaeology utilizes a multi-disciplinary strategy in our search for knowledge,” shares Stephanie Sandoval, M.A., Public Archaeology Director. “Lessons learned in an archaeological setting can be applied throughout a child’s academic and later professional lives regardless of their choice of field.”
