Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park
Alberta, Canada – Photo by Jim Royle
Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park was established to protect numerous panels of Plains Indian rock art. Some panels tell a story, similar to the buffalo hide paintings, and can be “read” by those familiar with the iconography. The circles represent shields. The park is located just north of the international border, on the north side of the Milk River.
